This 67 page novel offers an insight into the inner world of two beings who share the same space but physically encounter one another only for a few seconds. Much like the relationship that emerges between the cicada nymph and the human, this fictional narrative explores questions of a shared being-in-the-world. 83-year Cicada is an attempt to reflect on (interspecies) relationships, power dynamics, the significance of language, and a more empathetic coexistence—through speculation and through the interweaving of different forms of knowledge production.
